Detailed Day Wise Itinerary

DAY 01 : ARRIVE AT DELHI

Arrive at New Delhi’s International Airport. Following customs, immigration formalities and baggage collection, our representative will meet you as you exit the arrival terminal building after which you would be transferred to your hotel for check-in.

DAY 02 : DELHI

Morning proceed for full day sightseeing of Old & New Delhi.

Introduction to Delhi starts with a heritage walk to Old Delhi (Shahjahanabad) visiting Red Fort, Jama Mosque, Chandni Chowk and Raj Ghat. In the 17th century, the Mughal emperor, Shah Jahan, made his capital in Shahjahanabad, the area that broadly covers present-day Old Delhi, also called the walled city.

Jama Masjid is the largest and most well-known mosque in India. It is flanked by Red fort on one side and old city Chandni Chowk on another side. Built by Shah Jahan in 17th century, Jama Masjid is one of the most crowded destinations in Delhi for pilgrims and tourists.

Also have an outer glimpse of the Red Fort.

The Red Fort was built by the Mughal Emperor Shah Jahan in the 17th century that took around 9 years to complete this magnificent structure and around 10 million rupees to build the fort. The Red Fort is a masterpiece of architecture and is one of the most visited spot in old Delhi. The Red Fort, the last fort built in Delhi, has witnessed the vicissitudes of fate, the Mughals, the British, and finally the first light of Indian Independence.

The romance of the bazaars of Delhi can be experienced at its best in and around Chandni Chowk and it’s by lanes. Today, the walled city is one of the metropolis’ most crowded, chaotic and captivating areas, with a bamboozling orchestra of sights, and sounds. According to legend, Chandni Chowk market was established during the reign of the Mughal Emperor Shah Jahan. The legend also says that Chandni Chowk market was designed by Jahanara-Emperor Shah Jahan's favorite daughter.

Following walk enjoy Rickshaw ride in the by lanes of Chandni Chowk.

Later visit Raj Ghat, resting place of Mahatma Gandhi's. Raj Ghat remembers the man who is known as the Father of the Nation for his tireless and pacifist work to reclaim India's independence.

Following visit of Raj Ghat, proceed for Lutyen’s Delhi covering a photo stop at India Gate followed by orientation tour of Raj path, Parliament House and President House.

Later visit to Humayun’s Tomb.

Humayun’s the second Mughal Emperor of India died in 1556, and his widow Hamida Banu Begam, also known as Haji Begam, commenced the construction of his tomb in 1569, fourteen years after his death. Humayun’s Tomb is the first distinct example of proper Mughal style, which was inspired by Persian architecture.

Later you will visit to Qutab Minar.

Qutab Minar is amongst the tallest and the most famous monuments in the world. This beautiful minaret is 234 feet high and is regarded as the tallest individual tower in the world. The Qutab Minar is one of the many masterpieces that depicted the sheer brilliance of the Mughal architects.

Qutbu'd-Din Aibak laid the foundation of Minar in AD 1199 for the use of the mu'azzin (crier) to give calls for prayer and raised the first storey, to which were added three more storeys by his successor and son-in-law, Shamsu'd-Din Iltutmish (AD 1211-36).

Day 03 : Delhi to Ramathra (345 Kms / 07 Hrs)

Day 04 : Ramathra

In the morning enjoy jeep safari around the village.

Jeep safari from Ramathra Fort take you across the Daang through its badlands to several spectacular places that are best explored on foot. Destinations include Utgir Fort at the rim of the Chambal River valley, cave temples of Ghanteshvar and Kurka, and the Chuaki gorge. With all the jeep safaris you’ll meet villagers and see their homes as they tend small plots in the fertile valley or herd cattle on the Daang scrub.

In the evening enjoy lakeside at Fort Ramathra.

Ramathra Fort has a commanding view of the countryside. One can sit on the top of the fort’s massive outer wall and look out over farmland, rugged scrub of the Daang plateau, Kalisil Lake and its irrigation canal. Sunrises are especially spectacular and at twilight one can watch herds returning from the jungle or the blue bull grazing in the forest scrub below.

Day 05 : Ramathra to Ranthambore (80 Kms / 02 hrs)

Morning, travel to Ranthambore by surface.

The Ranthambore National Park was once the private hunting ground of the Maharaja of Jaipur. The park is located in the Sawai Madhopur district of south-eastern Rajasthan, which is about 130 km from Jaipur. At present, the national park is a part of Project Tiger and is one of the few places in the world, where over 300 species of birds and wildlife such as tigers, leopards, nilgai, black buck and Indian black boar graze with gay abandon. Visiting Ranthambore is a dream of every wildlife enthusiast; the park is renowned for tigers and is one of the best places in India to sight the majestic species.

Day 07 : Ranthambore to Kota to Bundi (190 Kms/ 03 Hrs).

Morning travel to Bundi by surface, enroute visit Kota.

Situated on the banks of Chambal River, the town of Kota was once the part of the erstwhile Rajput kingdom of Bundi. It became a separate princely state in the 17th century. Sightseeing of Kota includes Kishore Sagar Lake and Jagmandir Palace.

Kishore Sagar Lake is an artificial lake, built by Prince Dher Dun of Bundi in 1346. In the middle of the lake, on a small island is the Jagmandir Palace.The palace was built in 1740. It is built with red sandstone and was used as a pleasure palace by the Kings of Kota

After sightseeing of Kota, continue drive to Bundi.

Bundi came into its own in the 12th century when a group of Chauhan nobles from Ajmer were pushed south by Mohammed Ghori. They wrested the Bundi area from the Mina and Bhil tribes and made Bundi the capital of their kingdom, known as Hadoti. Bundi was generally loyal to the Mughals from the late 16th century on, but it maintained its independent status until incorporated into the state of Rajasthan after 1947.

Afternoon, proceed for sightseeing of Bundi, followed by visit to Tara Garh Fort.

Today tourists can visit historical forts, palaces, stepwells in Bundi. The most prominent attraction of the city is Taragarh fort. Built in 1354, the fort is known for its huge canon, the Garbh Gujam. Other attractions of the city are Bundi palace, Chaurasi Khambhon-ki-Chatri, Sukh mahal and many more. One can also see rock paintings in the Bundi palace, which are considered. The paintings depict the human evolution; social, cultural, economic life of ancient people.

There are 50 stepwells in Bundi which were built around 1699 for the public. Among all, the most beautiful stepwell is the Rani Ji ki Barol.

Bundi is among the few Indian cities which boast of a painting style of its own. Visitors can spot beautiful paintings in the Chitrashala in the Bundi fort and also in the fort at Dugari. The Bundi paintings have influences from Mughal and Ragmala paintings.

Day 08 : Bundi to Shahpura Bagh (110 Kms/ 02 Hrs.)

The Rural Ramble is a drive through a pastoral setting where one explores the natural surrounding with people tending to their fields and cattle and living in complete harmony with nature. You will visit a cave temple –a cavernous rock in which is ensconced a shrine of Lord Shiva. The top of this rock offers a panoramic view of landscape of black volcanic rocks interspersed with rocks.

The drive than leads to a lake side where refreshments are served. These lakes attract a lot of the local migratory birds and small animals that are lovely to watch with the sun set as a back drop

Day 11 : Deogarh to Mihirgarh (149 Kms / 03 Hrs.)

Morning experience a Rural Train Ride at 1000 Hrs through wooded hills on a 1930s train.

This is the track where story of the famous book and movie unfolds-`the man who would be king’ Rudyard Kipling.

A ride on the local meter gauge train, down a mountainous Ghat section is interesting for its panoramic views and of the scrub jungle, hills, tunnels 100-foot high bridges and Remote one-man stations. One travels on the Ghat section and here the hundreds of monkeys descend from the forest trees to feed on handouts given by the villagers. One gets to see the real rural life in this Train. Talking to villagers and co-passengers can be interesting sometimes. The 800 feet steep valleys, the thick forests, waterfalls (during monsoons), dark tunnels are a must see & an adventure not to be missed on.

Later, travel to Mihir Garh by surface.

Day 12 : Mihirgarh

Morning proceed for full day excursion to Jodhpur.

Guided sightseeing tour would cover a visit to Mehrangarh Fort, Jaswant Thada and Umaid Bhawan Palace Museum.

As Rajasthan’s largest fort, Mehrangarh forms a looming presence over Jodhpur. Visible from miles around, it is a grand statement of Rajput valor. Its construction was started around 1459 by the king known as the founder of Jodhpur, Rao Jodha and is believed to have been completed by Raja Jeswant Singh in the second half of the 17th century. There are several palaces inside the fort. The fort offers magnificent panoramic view of the city.

Jaswant Thada is situated on the left side of Fort Mehrangarh, in fact between the fort and the city. Well maintained gardens welcome you inside the compound and provide a great base to sit back and reflect on what you’ve seen and experienced. This cenotaph was built by Sardar Singhji in memory of his father.

Umaid Bhawan Palace is one of the last palaces built in India. It was built in 1944 by Maharaja Umaid Singh. The king was attracted very much to the western style of living. The palace reflects his taste, as it is one of the rare palaces in India whose architecture is distinctly western.

With 347 rooms, it was at the time the largest private residence in the world. Gaj Singh, the present owner, has divided the Palace into three functional parts. The first is a luxury heritage hotel run by the Taj group since 1977. The second forms the residence of the erstwhile royal family, and the third is an area open to public that houses among others a small museum. The museum's collection includes royal finery, local art and craft, miniature paintings, stuffed big cats, and a large number of clocks.

Day 13 : Mihirgarh to Jaisalmer (325 Kms / 07 Hrs.)

Jaisalmer has always held a special place in the imagination of travelers as India's finest desert outpost. Located in the sandy expanse of the Thar Desert, Jaisalmer was once part of the fabled 'Silk Route'. Built in local yellow sandstone, now christened as Jaisalmer stone, the town quite literally looks like a 'Golden City' as it has come to be known. Jaisalmer resisted the invasion from many foreign invaders and was one of the last royal places come under the rule of British.

Day 14 : Jaisalmer

Morning proceed for sightseeing of Jaisalmer visiting Gadi Sagar Lake, Royal cenotaphs, and Jaisalmer Fort.

Gadi Sagar, a man-made reservoir built in 1156 AD, is one of the most favourite tourist attraction in Jaisalmer. It was originally constructed by the King Jaisal and later it was reconstructed by Maharaja Garsi Singh in 1367 AD, making a new name 'Lake Gadi Sagar'. The lake is marvelously placed in picturesque surroundings and an imposing sandstone entrance known as Tilon-ki-Pol opens to the lake.

Royal cenotaphs showcase the carved images of past Maharawals & their families. Each chhatris preserve inscribed tablet recording the death of Maharawals in which the memorials are raised. The chhatris have been built on a set-pattern but in different sizes.

The magnificent Jaisalmer Fort stands amidst the Thar Desert towering over the city. Its double lined ramparts enclose a palace and house an entire living complex. Under the afternoon sun its massive yellow sandstone walls are a tawny lion colour gently fading to honey-gold as the sun sets, thereby camouflaging the fort in the yellow desert. The fort has three exquisitely carved Jain Temples dedicated to the Jain Tirthankaras of which the Parswanath Temple is oldest and the most beautiful with the walls of the sanctum are intricately carved with various animal and human figures.

Also visit the vibrant market place of Manak Chowk, and the Havelis which are located just outside of the Jaisalmer Fort. This is the perfect place to explore the rich art and craft work and creative skills of the local craftsmen of Rajasthan who have inherited the rare talent from their forefathers. Full of life and vigor, the market is flooded with ethnic silver jewellery, highly decorative leather works, embroidered goods and antiques pieces of traditional craft works of the region.

Marvel at the architectural splendour of the beautiful havelis which were constructed in the 18th and 19th centuries and reflect the brilliant architecture of the traditional times. The Patwon Ji ki Haveli, the first haveli and largest to have been constructed out of yellow sandstone is an interesting piece of architecture and is the most important among the havelis in Jaisalmer.

Late afternoon board your jeep and drive out to picturesque Sam Sand Dunes.

It is the closest point to witness the total sandy desert and to see patterns carved out by winds on the sand. Feast your eyes on a truly magnificent stretch of sweeping dunes with little or no vegetation. The fabulous sight of the golden rays of the sun setting over the dunes coupled with the adventure of casting one’s footprints across the shifting sands of Rajasthan is truly a magical experience. Relive the era of romance when travellers crossed kingdoms on this graceful animal for days on end.

Day 15 : Jaisalmer to Bikaner (340 Kms/ 7 Hrs.)

Bikaner lies in the north of Rajasthan on a little elevated ground. Lying in the north of the Desert State, the city is dotted with many sand dunes. The city acquires a yellowish red hue from the presence of various red and yellow sandstone buildings. The fortified town has a medieval charm about it which oozes from every street traversed by the tourists. Bikaner is renowned for the innovative idea of the intricately carved Jharokhas specially created to provide the womenfolk with a window to view the proceedings outside whilst being hidden. More popularly called the camel country, the city is renowned for the best riding camels in the world. The ship of the desert is an inseparable part of life here.

Day 16 : Bikaner

Morning proceed for full day sightseeing tour of Bikaner visiting Junagarh Fort, Camel Breeding Farm and Karni Mata Temple (Rat Temple) .

Constructed by Raja Rai Singh in 1593, the Junagarh Fort is one of its kinds with a strong, innovative and formidable structure which is encircled by a water moat and is believed to have bred crocodiles in the past. An amazing network of havelis with courtyards and balconies, watch towers, armory, halls and other the fort exudes an aura of red sandstone (Dulmera) and marble. The Fort is a massive edifice that has a 986 mts wall with 37 citadel and two entrances. The fort is decorated with ornaments and glass work. The major structures within the fort include the Hawa Mahal, Diwan-e-Khas, Badal Mahal, Anup Mahal, Phool Mahal, Dungar Mahal, Chandra Mahal, Rang Mahal, and Ganga Mahal.

The Camel Breeding Farm of Bikaner is a unique endeavour that has made a name for itself around the world when it comes to breeding the finest single-humped Indian camels. Because of their swift speed, this variant of the ‘ship of the desert’ is much favoured by the Indian Army. It was established on 5th July, 1984 and was initiated by the Indian Council of Agricultural Research (ICAR). The farm is complex of cables stables and enclosures and buildings. These camels are also sold during the various fairs at Bikaner and Jaisalmer, wherein they are rendered resplendent with decorations and ornaments.

Karni Mata is worshiped as the incarnation of the goddess Durga. The temple is famous for its black rats, which are treated as sacred and given protection in the temple. The temple is 600 years old and it is widely believed that feeding the rats at this temple and getting touched by them would bring good fortune. It is also believed that these rats would reincarnate as holy men especially the white rats are considered auspicious.

Day 17 : Bikaner to Pushkar (285 Kms/ 5 Hrs)

Pushkar is a sacred town for the Hindus, situated 11 kms to the North-West of Ajmer. The charm of this sleepy, lakeside settlement so captivated the great Indian poet, Kalidas, that it found a place in his classic, Abhigyan Sakuntalam. Evidence points to its having existed during the Fourth century B.C. Lake in the inhospitable surroundings of a desert is no less than a miracle. The most famous temple of Pushkar is the Jagat Pita Shri Brahma Mandir. It is the one and only temple in India that is dedicated to Lord Brahma

Day 18 : Pushkar

Morning, proceed for half day guided sightseeing tour of Pushkar, includes Pushkar Lake, Temples and Pushkar Bazaar. Pushkar Lake is one of the major tourist attractions in Rajasthan and features on the itinerary of each and every visitor. Legend has it that the creation of the lake was the result of a lotus falling off from Lord Brahma's hand who was desperately seeking a place to carry out a religious ceremony and a fire sacrifice popularly known as a Yagna. The Pushkar Lake is holy by most Hindus and a dip in the lake is held to be very auspicious.

Brahma Temple is one of the main sites of Pushkar Pilgrimage. The legends associated with the temple of Lord Brahma, its uniqueness, its significance as a holy place, add to the beautiful settings of the temple. It is the only temple dedicated to Lord Brahma in India. There are many other Hindu temples in Pushkar, which have very important significance.

The Pushkar Bazaar offers a variety of items, especially during the annual Pushkar Fair. The items available here are Rajasthani costumes and puppets, embroidered fabrics, souvenirs, bangles and beads, decorative pieces and accessories, curios, embroidered shoes, brass utensils, glass lamps, bags, belts and many more handicraft items. Majority of the traditional items are brought to the Pushkar Bazaar from Barmer District and other tribal areas of Rajasthan.

Day 19 : Pushkar to Samode (195 Kms /04 Hrs)

Morning proceed for full day excursion of Jaipur visiting Amber Fort, City Palace, Observatory, and Hawa Mahal.

Amber Fort is located in Amer, 11 Km from Jaipur. The fort boasts of an artistic grandeur and structural expertise. It is a reminiscent of the bravery and courage of the mighty Rajputs, who had played a remarkable role in the history of medieval India. Man Singh I started the construction of this fort in 1592 and, perhaps, it was the defense that topped his priorities before constructing this fort. The Kesar Kyari Complex of Maota Lake enhances the entire experience.

You will enjoy Elephant Ride to reach the magnificent Amber Fort.

Later proceed for City Palace.

City Palace is one of the major landmarks in Jaipur. The beautiful palace was built by Maharaja Sawai Jai Singh during his reign. Among the various forts and palaces of Jaipur, City Palace stands apart, with its outstanding art and architecture. In the Palace complex visit Maharaja Sawai Man Singh II Museum.

Following City Palace, visit to Observatory or Jantar Mantar. It is an astronomical observation site built in the early 18th century. It was built by Maharaja Jai Sigh II in 1724, whose passion for science, engineering, and astronomy prompted him to construct this complex of fourteen scientific instruments. It’s been over 200 years since they were first constructed, these fourteen structures can still accurately measure time; predict eclipses, and track stars and planets in their orbits.
